What is the Work Club ?

The Work Club is here to give you the support and guidance you need to find work and is open to all ages. We provide you with advice and support in all aspects of finding work, applying for jobs and accessing appropriate training.

Most importantly we focus on you:

* Helping you acquire the necessary skills

* Giving you the information you need

* Providing you with resources

The sessions run weekly with regular themes such as CV writing, filling in application forms and interview techniques. These activities will take up the first part of each session, and the second part will be specifically tailored to the job searching needs of those attending.

CV Writing

When you are looking for work there are some things you can't control: the types of jobs available, the questions asked on application forms and at interviews. However, the one area you can control is your CV. By taking control of your CV you will be able to demonstrate your skills and experience to potential employers and start earning those interview opportunities.

At the Work Club you will be able to compile a CV with expert advice, guidance and support. We will show you how to target your CV to specific opportunites and provide you with the resources to market yourself effectively.

Application Forms

Application forms can take on many forms, from a basic questionaire to in-depth psychometric testing. We will help you with simple techniques on how to fill in forms successfully. We will also help you to understand job descriptions, job profiles and person specifications.

Interview Techniques

Interviews can be one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through. We will try to help take the stress out of the situation with a series of sessions aimed at all aspects of the interview process.

Most interviews follow a pattern, and we will help you plan and prepare for your interview:

* What to wear?

* What questions to ask?

* What about the company?

These are just some of the topics we cover helping you to maximise your performance.

Individual advice and guidance sessions will be available, provided by partner agencies including:
